Symmetry

The term mandala translates to “circle (mandal)” in Sanskrit. Carl Jung believed that mandala is the key to self-understanding and self-acceptance. It helps in knowing one’s self more clearly, recognize unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, and move closer to the center of one’s actual being, leaving behind the various illusions of the self which clouded and confined one’s psychological and spiritual vision.

Mandalas are generally symmetrical as far as patterns within each ring are concerned. In this artwork here, I tried to replicate the entire mandala creating a pattern of mandalas itself. It did demand a lot of focus and balance of mind and hand but isn’t that how we grow, by challenging ourselves beyond our comfort zone?

I loved the vibrant and appeasing outcome with a perfect symmetry and rhythm among all the tiny mandalas.
