ALS NaPoWriMo Day 28 Prompt:
A lover of numbers is called a numerophile. We may not be numerophiles, but we deal with numbers every day. Let’s use our creativity to include some numbers in our poems today – how many numbers or which numbers is completey your choice. You can even write a poem as an ode to your favourite number or your birth date.
P.S. I am a numerophile who’s just astounded by the power and role of numbers in our lives. So I may have ended up including a lot of numbers in the poem 🙂
Poem: One Life
Numbers, they say, rule the universe,
Don’t consider them mere symbols,
They have the mettle to manipulate your fate,
It all, they say, depends on your birth date
The date you first inhaled on this earth,
Will determine the day of your last breath,
For counted are your number of days,
A zero or a nine ascertains your fame
Life is all a game of numbers,
Two days to deadline can change our temper,
Number one is called Sikander,
Yet infinity remains an unknown phase
Have you ever counted the number of stars?
Or the number of trees we’ve been blessed by Thee?
Did you count the miracles that happen on earth?
Can you feel the benevolence of the abundant Universe?
Millions of stars and galaxies exist,
A speck of dust we are, in space-time continuum
Mortal we are, inept to tame time,
Yet our pride doesn’t fail to persist
Eighty-four lakh times we’re bound to be birthed,
Before being blessed the body of a human,
Why fill it with rage, envy or pride
When ONE life is all we’ve been given!
