NaPoWriMo Day 3:
And now for our (optional) prompt. This one is a bit complex, so I saved it for a Sunday. It’s a Spanish form called a “glosa” – literally a poem that glosses, or explains, or in some way responds to another poem. The idea is to take a quatrain from a poem that you like, and then write a four-stanza poem that explains or responds to each line of the quatrain, with each of the quatrain’s four lines in turn forming the last line of each stanza. Traditionally, each stanza has ten lines, but don’t feel obligated to hold yourself to that! Here’s a nice summary of the glosa form to help you get started.
Following the below verse from my favorite Rumi, so each of this line is the last line of each consecutive stanza of my poem.
Tonight, I see the realm of joy and pleasure
I’ve lost myself in it and it has lost itself in me
No religion, no dogma, no conformity, no guilt,
No shame, no fear, no conviction, no uncertainty remain
-Rumi
Title: A Mystical Experience
I ask Thee for hope and light,
The acumen to discern sinful from right,
I look at the night sky glistening with stellar treasure,
Tonight, I see the realm of joy and pleasure
–
I seek gratification from the galaxy of chuffed stars,
An ounce of their eternal wisdom that can heal every scar,
I revel in the majestic beauty of intergalactic,
I’ve lost myself in it and it has lost itself in me
–
I find myself in a realm, beyond words and vision,
Awakening my soul to a mystical experience,
I feel one with Universe, all qualms gradually drift,
No religion, no dogma, no conformity, no guilt
–
A unique ineffable liberation persists,
I am no longer “I”, only Universe exists,
I release myself from the captivity of disdain,
No shame, no fear, no conviction, no uncertainty remain

superbly beautiful. xoxo
This is beautifully written, Vandana. It is also quite inspiring. I love Rumi, too. You did a lovely job responding to this prompt.
Your words made my day LuAnne! Much thanks ♥️♥️
Hi Vandana, As soon as I read that your poem is inspired by Rumi, I had to read it:)
Love these two lines :
I am no longer “I”, only Universe exists,
I release myself from the captivity of disdain,
Beautiful.
Vandana, this is beautiful!
