ALS NaPoWriMo Day 29 Prompt: What/who inspires you to write poetry or What would you like people to remember about you after you’re gone.
We have been continuously writing for last 28 days. Let’s sit down today to think about our poetic muse. Why do you write? What/who inspires you to write? Or
Being mortal beings, we all have to leave this world someday. How would like people to remember you? Would you want them to cry or to celebrate your life? Think about it!
Poem: My Existence after Death
When the count of my limited breath on this earth is over,
When I leave this mortal body to join the stars above,
When my time has come to become one with the ONE,
Wrap me with your love, O! dear ones,
And remember me for a life well spent!
Don’t question Thee for choosing me,
Don’t fret over your helplessness,
Don’t let your life take a downward swing,
Don’t mourn over my non-existence,
For my immortal soul would step into a new realm.
Recollect my memories of prosperous times,
And be pleased that I was blessed with gratifying moments,
Remember the struggles and challenges I faced,
But don’t overlook the growth they helped me attain,
A garland of good and bad times, please weave for me, O! dear ones!
My thoughts and emotions you’ll find in my verses,
Some words of strength I wrote for others and self,
Some words to echo my admiration for nature, some others offering a prayer,
Just honour them some space in my book shelf,
Don’t burn them to ashes, or be food of insects
A wealth of my expression, you’ll find in my work of art,
No matter how naïve or intricate, love it with your heart,
Let all my friends and family, keep it as a token of my love,
And the ones that are remaining, be embellished in a centre for health,
My art was a work of passion, please don’t bury this fact.
Remember me as a writer, who was passionate for words,
Remember me as an artist, who loved the hues and curves,
Remember me as a friend, who listened, stood by and loved,
Remember me as a woman, who tried her best to balance,
Remember me as an imperfect human, searching for meaning in imbalance
Forgive me for my misdeeds, for words of hurt I may’ve said,
Condone me for my resentment, for only a human I was,
Let go of all your grudges, and consider this my apology,
Absolve me of your abhorrence, I’ve paid my Karma’s debt,
Let my soul be free of this life’s silhouette.
My years of experience may have helped me evolve,
But my wealth of memories, I may not carry in my hearth,
My materialistic possessions, will stay in existence,
While my greatest possession- my body, turns to ash,
Remember me as another human, who couldn’t solve the maze of world.
I spent my years finding my connect to Universe,
I dwelled over my existence, spent time to introspect,
I committed sins, I failed, I faltered,
But in Him, I never lost my faith and trust,
Remember me as a child of this Universe.
Death is not an end in itself,
A doorway to a new beginning, I’ve always considered,
For what is life?
–A mortal existence in the space time continuum,
–A small phase in the eternal timelessness!
