NaPoWriMo Day 23: The monarch of Arctic

The challenge today is to write a poem about an animal. 

I had written on Eagle, couple of months ago, for a similar prompt. You can read that here. This time I have written about an endangered species.

The monarch of Arctic


Sea ice…

Ever dreamt of spending life there?

The thought itself sends shivers




But a species on earth,

The majestic marine mammal

Donning beautiful white fur, hiding its black skin




Braving cold weather          

Swimming large distances for days in a row

Hunting and feeding on ringed and bearded seals





A ‘threatened species’, they are now called

In constant fear of loss of their habitat

‘Global warming,’ hit polar bears hard
