Yin-Yang Balance

Yin-Yang Balance

Yin Yang is the symbol for balance. The principle of Yin and Yang represents duality or the idea that all things exist as contradictory opposites and are still inseparable and can exist in harmony and complement each other.

As the Yin and Yang symbol illustrates, each side has at its core, an element of the other (represented by a small circle). Neither pole is superior to the other and, as an increase in one brings a corresponding decrease in the other, a correct balance between the two poles must be reached in order to achieve harmony.

Yin yang symbolizes male-female, light-dark, sky-earth, and up-down. It represents the balance of life. A room or home will “feel” unbalanced when the yin yang, or water and fire energies are out of balance.

The circle is both the beginning and the end, finite and infinite, everything and nothing.

The area around the circle in this artwork is done in blue watercolor to represent the expanse of the Universe. The symbol of yin and yang invites us to tolerance, acceptance, balance, perseverance and love.
