NaPoWriMo Day 13: Today, I challenge you to write a non-apology for the things you’ve stolen. Maybe it’s something as small as your sister’s hairbrush (or maybe it was your sister’s boyfriend!)
So, I want to confess to a few acts of stealing. Hope the punishment isn’t too severe 🙂
Poem: Am I a thief?
The quagmire of life perplexes me,
Jeopardizes my thinking,
So few moments of peace
I steal from the repository of life
Every now and then
Sometimes scarcely, sometimes more often
Sometimes surreptitiously, sometimes righteously
Call me whatever, but don’t label me ‘thief’
For I just set my foot in search of some peace
The acrimony of living renders me exasperated,
Even egotistic to some extent
So few moments of love
I steal from hearts of others
For love, they say, sweetens every bitter soul
Devotion and care, interspersed by love
Mollifies me, makes me more munificent
Call me whatever, but don’t label me ‘thief’
For I just want to experience the ecstasy of love
The growing knots in delicate string of bonds
Quaver my conviction in relations
So few moments with myself
I steal from my kith and kin
No questions, no complaints
No explanations, no aversions
I just want to ruminate over my existence
Call me whatever, but don’t label me ‘thief’
For I just demand some time for introspection

Beautiful expression!
Stealing a few moments of peace and love and a few more for entirely yourself!! That is not being a thief, it is actually medication fr your soul. Much need to be alive and kicking.
I’m so happy to know that my words struck a chord with you Saumya 🙂 You are so right… such moments are much needed to be alive.. to feel oneself and to keep going. Thank you so much dear 🙂
