ALS NaPoWriMo Day 19:
If everything around you seems dark, look again. You maybe the light – Rumi
Poem: Walk Alone My Dear! Walk Alone
The world around me was enveloped in darkness
Though the glitterati of stars shone high above
An ounce of light I sought from the stars
Enough to walk me through my path
But Universe had its own plans
“Alone you’d walked into this world,
Alone you shall discover what you’re seeking for,
You have all answers inside your heart,
Just light your heart and walk that path,”
Reminded I was by the Universe
A journey to self, I set my foot on,
In silence, I foraged inside my heart
Absorbing all darkness that had engulfed my soul
Practicing perseverance, the art to let go
For ephemeral relations are, attachment being the foe
Shedding expectations from those I love
“Walk alone,” being the mantra
The wound, the pain, vanished from my heart
For light it became that healed every part
I was my soulmate, awakened I was
Love was what I sought all along
While my own heart was flowing with love,
To me, myself, I failed to soak in
I unheeded the Universe that flowed within
Why was I enthralled with this materialistic world?
I kept groping in darkness all along
While Sun was always gleaming within
I kept exploring the meaning of life
Losing sight of life that was a blessing
I now seek to be my own Universe!

I liked this better and better as I read. Your line, “Love was what I sought all along” cinched it.
(I’m about three above you at the NaPoWriMo site.)
..
Thanks Jim! Loved your poem too!
Great
