गज़ल: वफ़ा/ Ghazal: Fidelity

ये इल्तिज़ा है तुमसे, हमें याद तुम न करना

और हम भूल जाएँ तुमको, ये भी दुआ न करना

है नहीं मोहब्बत हमसे, ये इल्म तो हमें है

पर अक्स आईने में कभी तुम न ढूँढा करना

हुस्न-ओ-जमाल-ए-दिल से वाक़िफ हैं हम तुम्हारे

कोई और हो वाबस्ता, ये उम्मीद तुम न करना

वफ़ा की कोई कस्मे तो तुम निभा न पाए

बस कस्म-ए -बेवफ़ाई से कुछ तो वफ़ा करना

English Translation: Fidelity

Do not remember me, is all I request you

And also do not pray that I forget you too

I know, I’m aware, that you do not love me

So don’t search your reflection, when mirror faces you

I am well acquainted my dear, with the beauty of your heart

But don’t expect all other relations, to value your heart too

The promises of our fondest love, I know you couldn’t keep

But I hope all promises of deceit, with love you will pursue
