The prompt for the day is inspired by McKibbens, who posted these thoughts on her Twitter account a few months back:
What do you deserve? Name it. All of it. What are you ready to let go of? Name that too. Then name the most gentle gift for yourself. Name the brightest song your body’s ever held. Summon joy like you would a child; call it home. It wanders, yes. But it’s still yours.
Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem of gifts and joy. What would you give yourself, if you could have anything? What would you give someone else?
I found the prompt quite interesting and challenging at the same time. Today being Sunday, it was extremely difficult to squeeze time for pondering and writing, so this is what I could come up with
What I want to gift myself I never thought I deserved more, than what I already have Till I sat down pondering over, what I really have A life worthwhile, is what we all deserve Is there truly something more that I can request? “So what would make my life worthwhile” I austerely asked myself “Is there anything of significance that I would want to gift myself?” Oh yes! Of course, A list I have Of wishes you can say, If only I could have Endless hours on seashore Watching the waves unfold The bliss of sunrise and sunset I would like to cherish and adore With a pile of books and appeasing music I can gaze the ocean for hours If only, I could gift myself The joy of solitude, some days by self A gift of experiences I would want if I could have Paragliding, skydiving, snorkeling and mountaineering And the liberty to pen down my thoughts I would gift myself the wealth of time That I can spend in nature’s lap The gift of travel, of exploring this earth And admire each creation of universe Though wishes are infinite But His gifts are immense And I’m grateful For what I have For I trust my Lord And believe He ensures That I’m gifted What I truly deserve! ©Vandana Bhasin
