Here’s our optional prompt for the day. Many of us had to write “acrostic” poems in school. These are poems in which the first letter of each line spells a word as you go down the poem. For example, the first line of an acrostic poem that spells the word “ghost” would start with a word beginning with “g”; the second line would start with a word beginning with an “h,” and so on.
Today, I’d like to challenge you to write a variation of an acrostic poem. But rather than spelling out a word with the first letters of each line, I’d like you to write a poem that reproduces a phrase with the first words of each line. Perhaps you could write a poem in which the first words of each line, read together, reproduce a treasured line of poetry? You could even try using a newspaper headline or something from a magazine article.
I have been saying affirmations for past few months for my own peace and balance and I find this one particularly close to my heart as it allows me to surrender completely to the Universal power! I decided to use this one for my word acrostic poem.
“I trust the Universe for guiding me to the right path”
Poem: Universal Guidance
I am a seeker in this vast universe,
Trust that my soul has a definite divine purpose,
The purpose for which I took abode in human realm
–
Universe always listens and honors my desires,
For I always feel a holy presence beside me,
Guiding me, enabling my needs, empowering my dreams
–
Me, my, mine and I- is just the dust of this infinite cosmos,
To know oneself, this “me” needs to be exonerated,
The path to divinity only then gleams
–
Right are the roads of the Universal stream,
Path that my soul accepts and connects; path that leads the way to my dreams!
