Our prompt yesterday asked you to take inspiration from another poem, and today’s continues in the same vein. This prompt, which comes from Holly Lyn Walrath, is pretty simple. As she explains it here:
“Go to a book you love. Find a short line that strikes you. Make that line the title of your poem. Write a poem inspired by the line. Then, after you’ve finished, change the title completely.”
I’ve taken inspiration from the line, “Time moves through and within us, in endless spirals,” from one of my favorite books on the life of Rumi, “The Forty Rules of Love” by Elif Shafak. I can read this book over and over again:)
I’m also combining the prompt given by Artoonsinn which requires us to include the line “If nature was a lover” in the poem.
So here’s my poem for today (I decided to use the line from the book, in the poem itself):
Poem: Time moves through and within us, in endless spirals
Edited Title: A riveting journey
A spectator of life’s manifestations,
With inexorable credulity in destiny
–
Or someone that beholds life’s experiences
I’m a voyager who explores his journey
–
At times I just witness silently
Striving to assimilate, what my eyes see
–
I believe in my journey-
A journey that’s not just profound but healing
–
A journey that entails knowing oneself
Knowing Thy creation, a bonding with nature
–
If nature was a lover,
Nature’s sweetest child, I would then be
–
For the exquisite, enduring love that nature blesses me
I gladly enrich my repertoire of experiences
–
I move in spirals; faltering and learning
I wish time would wait for me
–
But time moves through and within us, they say
Each moment precious, each moment liberating!
–
A state of timelessness, I want to be in
Where I command time and time obeys me!
