Prompt for ALS NaPoWriMo Day 5:
We all can dream big. We all can fly high. We just need to find our wings. Interpret this theme as you like. You may write a poem that motivates others to find their wings, or narrate a tale of discovering your own wings, or simply write about the winged creatures. Have fun reaching the skies today.
Today’s prompt reminded me of the first poem that I had written in my life. It was titled “Wings of Freedom”. Looking back I feel that I have come a long way, but there is still so much to do and learn. Isn’t it?
Poem: Have You Seen My Wings?
Why cannot I fly when I can see the vast sky,
Who has caged my spirit?
Who has clutched my feet?
Have you seen my wings?
The enormous blue is abundant,
It has space for everyone,
Then why am I scared to see your flight?
How do I find my wings?
My path varies from yours,
Your dreams aren’t same as mine,
Your wings maybe short or elliptical,
For me, would the same suffice?
I know uncertainty scares me,
A chaperon is who I need,
But isn’t everyone on own expedition,
Then why am I afraid of being one?
Has experience made me wiser?
Or has it made me more reluctant?
When I dared to climb earlier,
What’s stopping me now from flight?
Scepticism is my biggest adversary,
I just need to trust my wings,
I know I can, and I will,
I can fly unclenched like a king!

Yes, trust your wings. The questions you ponder over here are the stepping stones that lead to the strength of your wings.
So well said Arti. These questions would certain strengthen my wings! Thanks for reading my dear.
I love a poem with lots of questions and this one worked wonderfully. Thank you.
I’m so glad to hear your words Luanne. Sometimes questions lead us to answers 🙂
