The prompt for Day 4 is to write a poem in the form of a poetry prompt đ Interesting, isn’t it?
The poet Mathias Svalina has been writing surrealist prompt-poems for quite a while, posting them to Instagram. You can find examples here, and here, and here.
Here’s my Prompt Poem:
Prompt Poetry: A poem emerging from stillness
- Wake up to the sound of chirping of birds and first rays of the sun.
- Without dissonance, get into your tracks, smile and put your sneakers on.
- Absorb the morning beauty in the gushes of the wind, in the hues of the sky.
- Walk along the ocean waves as they swiftly hit the shore, ebbing and flowing like everything else in life.
- Crunch some words and park them somewhere in your mind.
- Feel the wetness of sand under your shoes.
- Notice the footprints you leave on the sand.
- Feel the cold splashes of water on your skin and how alive they make you feel.Â
- Crunch some more, for you need a full-length poem.
- Watch the crimson ball of hope peering from the horizon and immersing the ocean in its sheen.
- Soak yourself in these moments of bliss and experience the true meaning of life.
- Let these moments walk with you as you head back to your abode.
- Let rhyme and rhythm and meter and flow, work around the words you had stored.
- Make yourself a frothy cup of coffee as you sit back with your paper and pen.
- Pour all the blissful emotions – drop-by-drop, sip-by-sip.
- Let your heart guide your emotions and your emotions dictate the words.
- Dig the treasure of words and rhymes youâd played all along.
- Let the magnificence of nature be the petrichor, the aroma of which infuses calmness to the core.
- Let this petrichor invoke a few verse.
- Out of this calmness, this state of stillness, what emerges is your poetry.
- Now let this poem enthrall the world.

Loved your prompt poem…. I love how you used petrichor too! And am so tempted to attempt all the prompts for myself. While mine is not a prompt poem, you can see it: here
Thanks a ton!
I love your poem emerging from stillness! I especially enjoyed the lines:
âAbsorb the morning beauty in the gushes of the wind, in the hues of the skyâ and âLet these moments walk with you as you head back to your abodeâ, and the internal rhyme in âLet the magnificence of nature be the petrichor, the aroma of which infuses calmness to the core.â
Thank you so much Kim for giving it such a thorough read! Lots of love â¤ď¸
I may use few of them…can I?
Very well done!
