The NaPoWriMo prompt for today is to write a poem that explores your sense of taste! This could be a poem about food, or wine, or even the oddly metallic sensation of a snowflake on your tongue.
A visit to mom forever a delight
her zesty food dipped with affection
garnished by her blessing
spiced by her devotion
Serving special cuisine
I visit each time
she decided to bake my favorite
“Mom’s classic pie”
The bitterness of broccoli
spiced up with chillies
extends flavor to sugary carrots
with a creamy layer so yummy
The taste of sour lemon
and sweetness of honey
zing up the mushrooms
to appease the tummy
The perfect amount of salt
neither more nor less
to make the peppery pie
retain its crispiness
Lettuce and bell peppers
olives and onion
garnished with coriander
taste like heaven
Cheese so mellow
softening coarse nuts
my mom’s scrumptious pie
is simply delectable!
