ALS NaPoWriMo Day 25: If I were young again…
Poem Title: O, My Younger Self!
The wheel of time, I wish could roll back,
And transport me to golden days of my youth,
For a piece of guidance, I’d offer my younger self,
To grow differently than I actually did.
Intimidated and apprehensive of all that was or wasn’t,
Too afraid to express what I thought or felt,
Directionless, naive, petrified to call for help,
That’s somewhat a picture of how I looked.
My dear younger self, let this sink in every cell,
Fear is unreal; a conception of your mind,
Limiting your freedom, its meant to keep you tied,
What distances you from happiness is nothing but fear.
Fear decapacitates,
Courage will elevate,
Let fearlessness be your mantra,
Have the courage to speak up.
Perfection is an illusion, remember my younger self,
I’ve wasted precious years, trying to make you look perfect,
In a bid to make all happy, I forgot to be kind to self,
Remember, those who love would stay, rest is all a pretense
Just live in the present moment, and trust in the Universe,
It always has a plan, no matter if it’s not visible,
Keep forging ahead with faith, life’s full of twists and turns,
Failures help you grow, but remember to rise up.
In this race of space and time, aim for timelessness,
No matter how crowded your world, spend time with yourself,
The world will set your boundaries, limitations and conditions,
You have to slowly move from conditioned to pure awareness!
