Today the challenge is to write a paragraph that briefly recounts a story, describes the scene outside your window, or even gives directions from your house to the grocery store. Now try erasing words from this paragraph to create a poem or, alternatively, use the words of your paragraph to build a new poem.
So, this is a short story that I came up with.
And then I erased a lot of words and chose only the ones that are bold, italicised and underlined. And the result was a funny poem! I never imagined it to be so vague yet hilarious!
Story:
I was relaxing at the most beautiful beach in Rio, Brazil, with a glass of champagne in one hand and the other stroking her golden hair. She was the most attractive woman I had ever met. The sparkling sand, the lush green plants and the crystal clear water; it all looked astoundingly radiant in the sunset. It was the most romantic and adorable evening I had ever had. I was elated to see her sitting by my side, adoring me. She took me in her arms and…
“Twenty minutes to dream, Twenty minutes to dream”
“Do not shout or scream, Twenty minutes to dream”.
Ahh!!My alarm always went off at the wrong time. I hated my voice in the alarm at that moment. Why did I record my voice to shatter my dreams everyday!!!
Poem:
I was the most beautiful
With a glass of champagne
And golden hair
The most attractive woman
Ever sparkling
And crystal clear look
Astoundingly radiant
The most adorable I was
Sitting by my side
Adoring me
Dream, Dream, Dream
I hated my dreams!
