ALS NaPoWriMo Day 16 Prompt:
Let’s get on to the road today!
We all have to step out of our house on some or the other pretext. Have you ever paid attention to the things/ people you see while walking or driving. Let your poem talk about your road experiences today.
Poem: One road, many destinations
The road that takes me to many places,
Has umpteen tales– told and untold
The saga of the woman who approaches every car as the light turns red,
I wonder what helplessness made her resort to this act
The delivery boys who speed past all cars to offer smile to someone,
Do we remember to be grateful to them when they ease our task?
The road is abuzz with office goers in the morning,
Some seem stressed, some music lovers, some already started their work calls
I also see some women racing to drop their children to school or bus stop,
Some talk to their child on the way, some hassled by chores at hand
Some fitness freaks jogging, others carrying their yoga mats,
Infused by the energy of a new dawn
Buses honking and making their way to drop the passengers,
The florist carrying bouquet of flowers, some vendors setting up their shops
Surrounded by tall buildings housing hundreds,
The path adorns colorful hues of trees and flowers
The road takes a siesta after few hours,
In grip of inertia, it refuses to share or talk
Twilight bedazzles the road like a bride
People racing to catch up on few hours before midnight
One road, many destinations,
Travelers change, but the road continues
