Prompt for ALS NaPoWriMo Day 11:
Buddha is not just the name of Lord but it’s a state of being. It’s akin to divinity. What do you think it takes to be like Buddha? Do you feel the presence of Buddha within or around yourself? Do you know anyone who has attained such a state? Feel your innermost self today and write a poem on “Being Buddha”.
Poem: Seeking to be Buddha
Away from the land of chaos, I seek the sky of peace within,
A world away from the corporeal world, a realm of zen I seek within
No worldly pleasures, nor luxuries offer joy,
A state of happiness that connects me to me
Trapped I’ve been for decades since alive,
I now wish to connect my soul to my being
I’ve heard the sounds of pride and conquest,
The echoes of silence now draw me in
Mourning past, anxiety for future – an absolute road to catastrophic living,
Present moment awareness to keep me grounded, now I’m slowly practising
I trust the Universe, its timing and plans,
I know what I’m worth will walk towards me
Pain and sorrow are inevitable,
I’m learning to lessen my suffering as being
I flew towards the sky to know my limits,
Now I walk towards my heart, for love resides within
A fraternity, a confluence I’d always admired,
Solitude is what I now cherish
I was focused on others to hold when I fall,
I walk alone now knowing it’s my journey
I’m learning to quiet my mind these days,
For I want to hear my soul speak
A seeker I am in this vast Universe,
I’m seeking to be a Buddha within

P.S. Th artwork has been made by me.
I love this infinite trust: “I know what I’m worth will walk towards me.” It’s something I strive toward as well.
Thanks Romana. I guess we all are trying to be buddha in our own way. That’s the road to peace and contentment.
Beautiful Vandana. Your poem and your art put me in mind of the Sufi song–‘tu jhoom jhoom …jo hai tera mil jayega, kar ke koi bahana…’ I’m assuming you know Hindi:)
Hey Punam! You made my day with your lovely feedback. I’m a Sufi lover so this is even more special to me. Thanks a ton dear.
Yes yes, I know Hindi. I write in Hindi too 🙂
