The poetry writing month has begun and no matter how much I may have stayed away from writing, I cannot stay away from NaPoWriMo!
This year, I am also the host of the NaPoWriMo at Asian Literary Society‘s platform on Facebook. You can also the join the community to participate in the month long writing marathon.
Here’s the prompt for Day 1 on ALS:
Miracles happen to those who believe in the power of miracles. Do you believe in miracles? Have you experienced any?
Let’s begin the poetry writing month by writing a poem on the power of miracles, or your longing for a miracle, or narrating your experience of a miracle. Use the prompt in whatever way you like, and show us a miracle with your writing.
Here’s the prompt given by Maureen for Day 1 :
They say you can’t judge a book by its cover, but they never said you can’t try to write a poem based on a book cover — and that’s your challenge for today! Take a look through Public Domain Review’s article on “The Art of Book Covers.” Some of the featured covers are beautiful. Some are distressing. Some are just plain weird (I’m looking at you, “Mr Sweet Potatoes”).
Below is my poem, combining the two prompts wherein I’ve used the book title ‘Out of chaos’ by Prince Michael Trubetzkoi.
Poem: My Belief in Miracles
In miracles of the Universe, I’ve always kept my trust
For I know, whatever I may plan, Universe plans the best
In miracles I believe, for miracles I pray
For they keep my hope alive, and show me the way
My desires infinite, my dreams touch the horizon
But in my heart I believe, in the power invisible
For in the frenzied race of life
What pulls me out of chaos, is nothing but a miracle
Trapped in fear, shrouded in uncertainty
What demystifies and clears the haze
Is a streak of hope, a shred of belief-
My belief in the ultimate power of miracles
I may have lost my love, or may have been distressed
I may have questioned my truth, or drifted from my trail
But an imperceptible power surrounds my being
A miraculous energy that soaks me in peace
So no matter if it rains, or it’s a storm or a thunder
My unwavering belief in the blessings of Almighty
My unrelenting faith in the power of miracles
Brings me back to life – a life that shines through miracles!
