ALS NaPoWriMo Day 8 Prompt: Seek inspiration from your favourite song.
I have many favourite songs, but I have been hooked to this one for the last one year.
Though this song has many versions, I like The Coke Studio version sung by Naseebo Lal and Abida Parveen. It’s titled “Tu Jhoom”. You can listen to the same here.
The first few lines are :
“Peedaan nuun main seene laavan
Te main hasdee javaan
Dhupaan de nal lad lad ke main lubhiyan apni chhaavan
Dukh vee apne, sukh vee apne, main te bas eh jaana
sab nuun samajh ke ki karna hai,
Dil nuun eh samajhaavaan, Tu Jhoom!”
Poem: I Seek Transcendence
I have learned to embrace pain,
I shine through my struggles,
For sorrow is as evident as joy,
Being two sides of the life’s river.
—
I do not worry about others–
Their judgments or expectations,
For pleasing everyone is futile,
Like counting stars in the night sky.
—
I love and accept myself,
The way I have been blessed,
In my wholeness, I’ve absolute trust,
Worldly evaluation being immaterial
—
What’s destined will find its way to me,
Regardless of restraints and obstacles,
Not all desires are attainable,
Not everything is controllable.
—
Misconceptions, preconceived notions,
Mountain of worldly pleasures,
My soul needs liberation,
From the weight of meaningless trepidations
—
I relinquish all entanglements,
I only seek transcendence,
To discover my true purpose,
The bliss of enlightenment.
—
I seek to delve into my soul,
To lose myself in His abundance,
To revel in the ecstasy of Oneness,
Of my soul with His presence!
