ALS NaPoWriMo Day 6 Prompt: I need freedom from…
I am following the quote of Buddha for today’s poem, “No one outside ourselves can rule us inwardly. When we know this, we become free.”
Poem: Liberation from My Binds
“No one outside ourselves can rule us inwardly,
When we know this, we become free.”
Free from the swamp of raging emotions,
That threatens to drag us away from our being.
—
Freedom from the albatross of the past I seek,
Freedom from the pain of the wounds unhealed,
Wounds that are buried deep inside somewhere,
Yet shriek in agony at times unforeseen.
—
Afraid to speak the truth I believe,
Fear that induces these ripples of grief,
From the fear of judgment that cripples my deeds,
Freedom I need from the binds of trepidation.
—
From the cascade of anger that has poisoned my mind,
From the mountain of desires that is unsurmountable,
From constantly vying to triumph and shine,
I want to liberate myself and my mind.
—
I choose the freedom to see the truth,
I choose the freedom to be the truth,
I choose to relinquish what doesn’t serve me,
I choose the freedom to be at peace.
—
No one I need to liberate myself,
For I am the one who’s trapped myself,
My heart, mind and soul need to be one,
Only then can I experience complete freedom.
—
None outside can rule my mind,
My inner state is a reflection of my being,
My soul isn’t tied to my body or mind,
It’s my mind that needs liberation from its binds!
