ALS NaPoWriMo 2025 Day 3 Prompt: “A stone of hope can cause the mountain of despair to fall.”
I am starting my poem with the words of Paulo Coelho:
“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
Poem: Wings of Hope
“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting,”
Dreams that are sown in the soil of hope,
No matter it’s a desert or prairie.
—
In the garden of my life, I’d sown a motley of flowers,
Tending to them with love and care each day,
In the hope that their fragrance will enliven my space
—
But the blizzard of time blew away my yield,
Devastated and distressed, I lay in the dungeons of darkness,
Aghast at the paradox that life had put me in
—
I scoured for my dreams in the vast barren land,
I found its roots deep in the soil,
The soil of hope had tenderly held onto my dreams
—
The patronage of hope energized my spirit,
The promise of a new dawn that hope had instilled,
And I found myself quilling new dreams
—
Dreams that became possible with a pebble of hope,
The pebble that crushed the mountain of despair,
And my dreams soar now on the wings of hope.
