ALS NaPoWriMo Day 17 Prompt: Use the rainbow colours in your poem
I have used the following quote from Lao Tzu in my poem:
“Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment.”
Poem: Knowing Yourself is Enlightenment
Knowing others is wisdom;
Knowing yourself is Enlightenment,
Within the self reside, energy centres divine,
Connecting body, soul and mind.

Chakras, as they are called, are believed to balance and align,
Their 114 centres garner the power of the Universe,
While the seven along the spine,
Being the being’s prime.
—
At the base of the spine, the Root Chakra is confined,
Fear and anxiety, it keeps at bay when aligned,
Stability and grounding, its deep red signifying,
“I am connected to the Earth,” helps to realign.

Orange is the colour of the Sacral Chakra,
Orange being the colour of warmth and vitality,
This second chakra balances our emotions and creativity,
It aligns when we say, “I release guilt and shame, I honour my body.”

Between the heart and the navel, resides the Solar Plexus Chakra
Yellow in colour, it represents willpower and confidence,
When blocked, the Third Chakra curtails self-esteem and intellect,
It aligns with saying, “I trust my abilities; I embrace new opportunities.”

The Fourth Chakra controls love and empathy,
Located in the heart centre, the heart chakra is green in colour,
Joy, compassion and gratitude connote an open chakra,
When anger or jealousy reign, say, “I am grateful for all the love in my life.”

Communication and expression are the functions of the Fifth Chakra,
The throat chakra assumes the blue of the sky and the ocean,
When fear of judgment cripples your words and expression,
Say, “I honour my inner truth and communicate with confidence.”

The Third Eye Chakra is linked to intuition, insight and inner wisdom,
Denoted by the indigo colour, its alignment assures a deeper connection,
When focus you lack, and it’s challenging to make decisions,
Balance the sixth chakra, say, “I trust the flow of my life; I’m guided by my intuition.”

The violet colour symbolizes spirituality, enlightenment, and transcendence,
A connection to the higher self is established with the Crown Chakra,
When a feeling of disconnect or lack of inner peace prevails,
To align the Seventh Chakra say, “I am a divine being of light; I trust the Universe.”

When you align your inner energies with those of the Universe,
Like the colours of a rainbow merge, to let the white light disperse,
You feel one with yourself, and become the light of the Universe,
The path to enlightenment opens when you know yourself!
