ALS NaPoWriMo Day 12 Prompt: A poem about fears
I chose to use the following words of Eckhart Tolle, “If uncertainty is unacceptable to you, it turns into fear”
Poem: Que Sera Sera
“If uncertainty is unacceptable to you, it turns into fear”
So I draw from the well of uncertainty,
A handful of fear each day,
And witness it dripping slowly from my hands,
To merge into the vastness of Earth.
—
The well of uncertainty filled and tended by ‘time,’
Aboded varied emotions sheathed with layers of fright,
It kept watering my being without any ask or need,
I thought it was nurturing and protecting me,
But I found myself drowning in this spring.
—
Fear wore many hats–
Rage, guilt, resentment, mistrust–
Gradually, I lost connect with my true being.
Perturbed by fear and ambiguity,
I failed to embrace the infinite possibilities.
—
I implored the Universe to rescue me,
To save me from sinking in my fears.
It sent the Sun, the moon, the stars,
Directing me to believe in the rhythm of the cosmos,
Uncertainty, I realized, wasn’t always the culprit.
—
I needn’t always be in control of what’s coming,
To the plan of the Universe, I must be willing,
Fear or anxiety cannot rewrite my destiny,
But they certainly impede my experience of being,
I gracefully chose to surrender to uncertainty.
—
Too much of the future infected my present,
Too much of the past restrained my becoming,
Que Sera Sera–whatever will be, will be
The fear of fear being the biggest fear,
The only way to overcome was simply to face it!
