ALS NaPoWriMo Day 11 Prompt: Pick any word you like, and use its five synonyms as well as the word in the poem.
My chosen word is Awareness, and I have used its following 10 synonyms:
understanding, insight, cognizance, enlightenment, consciousness, mindfulness, discernment, illumination, epiphany, realization
I have used the following quote by Deepak Chopra for my poem today:
“Awakening is not changing who you are, but discarding who you are not.”
Poem: Awakened I Am
“Awakening is not changing who you are,
but discarding who you are not.”
Awakening is a realization to be true to yourself,
An understanding to remain centred in the stillness of your heart.
—
Unfazed by the whimsical world,
The world that constantly coerces me to change myself,
I choose the path to connect to my consciousness,
Through mindfulness, I seek to embrace enlightenment
—
The world outside is a reflection of my inner being,
No zephyr can uproot me if I’m balanced within,
How can I change myself to fit into a malleable mould,
This insight awakened me from my deep sleep.
—
I assess my words, my thoughts and my deeds,
I gradually relinquish the ones that don’t fulfil my needs,
The discernment of this isn’t gentle to achieve,
An epiphany alone may help shed old beliefs.
—
The cognizance of infinity and purity of my soul,
Creates an immunity to tainted and foul,
The illumination of my being is not in changing myself,
But in awareness to discard what’s inconsistent with me!
