Poem: A Tricolor World
I live in a vibrant, colorful world,
Many a hue I see around,
Yet my heart knows not,
Any color other than white or black,
Though it gets confused sometimes, and labels it grey as well.
Is the world not as it seems?
Or has my perception turned me color-blind?
For black is all I see everywhere,
And it has made my world so dark,
That I cannot even find my other hand!
Greed and jealousy I see everywhere,
And they seem to have bleached the color of everything,
Which color do I attribute to these?
“It’s just pure black!” my heart cries out,
But wouldn’t that make the whole world black?
My heart rejoices when it spots some white,
An innocent laughter, an act of kindness,
Compassion, trust or hands folded in gratitude,
These splash some white on my black landscape
I like to call these ‘Super Blue Moon’
I see some shades of grey at times,
Love laced with pride,
Charity done as bribe,
My heart and mind squabble at such times,
And when my mind snubs my heart, ‘grey’ is the color I prefer to box
Yet there are some things, whose color I fail to classify,
Neither black nor white nor grey, the only colors I identify,
For solitude seems kind to me; it helps me know myself,
But too much of it fills my heart with sorrow,
Which color should I label it then? I simply fail to address
