ALS NaPoWriMo 2023 Day 30 Prompt:
What a proud moment for all of us! What a poetic marathon for last 30 days! Super congratulations to all of you for writing as many poems as you could – be it 10, 20 or 30. Aren’t you proud of yourself for the collection that you’ve created over a month? Well, this certainly isn’t the end. For we believe that end is the new beginning. Let’s end the poetry month with the spirit of a new beginning. Show us in your poetic verses, what this new beginning means to you.
I end the poetic month with this poem, signifying new beginnings!
Poem: An End or a Beginning
Goodbyes are never easy,
On relations I never give up,
Closures sink my heart,
Remind me of all I’ve lost
The world I knew, doesn’t exist anymore,
The words that meant love, I hear no more,
The aroma that filled my day, has faded into oblivion,
Is this an end, I ask myself
The footsteps that made my heart race,
The eyes that rejoiced at my feat,
The smile that lifted my broken soul,
Was it all a lie I couldn’t foresee?
Stuck I felt, when you left without a clue
What was my true relationship with you?
When love had to be constantly proved,
Neither of us could grew
How uncertain was my future,
How fear had me entrapped,
In my state of vulnerability,
You decided to quit and rob
I couldn’t have ever done,
What you decided to do,
How easily you moved on,
With clarity of what you brew
But I trust Him more than you,
He protected me from you,
How could you save me from a storm,
When a breeze uprooted you
So I remind myself at night,
That Sun is waiting to rise,
That darkness is ephemeral,
At the end of tunnel, there’s light
Liberated now I feel,
Rejuvenated to start anew,
For I’d missed living my life,
In a bid to please you
Some endings are essential,
Some endings liberate you,
Some endings are a beginning,
A beginning to meet new ‘You’
