Symphony
Music has a universal language. It is understood by one and all. My intrinsic love for music urged me to create this artwork. I admire the symphony created by a musical instrument and since I cannot create music, I decided to give an ode to musical instruments with this Zentangle inspired artwork where guitar, table and drums have been embellished with intricate patterns to create musical notes that are also a part of the artwork.
And did I forget to mention that I glazed the paper with turmeric first? Oh yes! I prepared turmeric paste and brushed it smoothly over the paper to get that yellow background!
Zen is a state of mind where any emotion or thought does not bind you. The created patterns are referred to as “tangles” and can be dots, lines, or basic curves. Zentangle was invented by a monk named Rick Roberts and an artist named Maria Thomas. With Zentangle they created a combination of meditation and art.
This art form is known to increase focus, creativity, self-confidence and an increased sense of well-being and when I combined it with my love for music, it certainly proved therapeutic.
