April is the most awaited month for all the poets across the world as we celebrate National Poetry Writing Month by writing a poem each day to the prompts hosted by various platforms.
I’ve surprised myself this time by penning down 63 poems during the last one month!
I followed the prompts of four platforms this year:
–ArtoonsInn Poetry Parlour NaPoWriMo challenge
–napowrimo.net managed by Maureen
–Penmancy 15 days micropoetry challenge
–Asian Literary Society’s 7 day poetry challenge
Many a times I felt like I may not be able to continue but I realized that poetry was the only solace in this month of mayhem and agony. A lot was happening at the personal front with family and friends going through a lot of suffering but poetry kept me sane.
That one hour of writing and stealing few minutes every now and then to read fellow writers, was a true source of strength that helped me stabilize my senses and regain my balance to brace the numerous calls and messages of sad news.
I thank everyone whose support or verses or words of encouragement to my posts helped me achieve the biggest milestone of my writing career!
I ended my poetic marathon with this poem yesterday.
Poem Title: I trust, we shall overcome
I know the night is darker than ever
I know we feel trapped forever
But I trust in the mighty rays of Sun
This too shall pass,
This too we shall overcome
–
I know the agony is unbearable,
I know the losses have been immense,
But I trust in the acumen of our race
This too shall pass,
This too we shall overcome
–
Uncertainty happens to be the only certainty,
Isolation emerges as the icon of closeness,
But I trust the strength of our prayers,
This too shall pass,
This too we shall overcome
–
The world seems crumbling down
The humanity’s wrapped in fear
But I trust in the benevolence of Lord,
This too shall pass,
This too we shall overcome
