An Ocean of Knowledge
Goddess Saraswati has a very special presence and place in Indian Hindu mythology. She is believed to be the One who endows us with knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning. She is one of the Tridevi, along with the goddesses Lakshmi and Parvati.
As an artist, being able to create an artwork of the Goddess was certainly an achievement for me. I felt as if the Goddess held my hand while creating this, and blessed me to create more art. This was indeed a meditative experience.
This is a Kalamkari piece of art. Kalamkari art in India has two main styles- Srikalahasti style and Machilipatnam style. Srikalahasti style of painting draws inspiration from the Hindu mythology describing scenes from the epics and folklore. This style holds a strong religious connection because of its origin in the temples.
