This post is in response to the prompts for Day 8 provided by Poetry 101 course of Blogging University. This day’s requirement is to write a poem on “Pleasure” using anaphora or epistrophe. Anaphora is a poetic device that relies on the repetition of the same word or phrase at the beginning of each verse and epistrophe is the repetition of the same word or phrase at the end of verses.
I have used epistrophe in the below poem:
The exquisite sunrise with chirping birds,
The invigorating sea with covert marine world,
The starlit sky aboding colorful clouds,
The aromatic flowers with leaves abound,
These pleasures are unique,
These pleasures are invaluable!
The joy when a new life takes birth,
The smile of a child, the dreams of an adult,
The romance and warmth of a couple in love,
The success in career, the pride in your work,
These pleasures are unique,
These pleasures are invaluable!
The encouragement of folks, the time with friends,
The silence of night, the voice of inner self,
The journey to accomplish your dreams in life,
The first date, the first job and the first dive,
These pleasures are unique,
These pleasures are invaluable!
The poem is very nice. I didn’t know about epistrophy. It’s very interesting and you maintained it very casually without hampering the rhythm of this poem.
Thanks dear. Epistrophe is indeed very interesting and a powerful poetic device!
Good one.. I am new to this terms…
Thanks 🙂
Beautiful! so basically that poem Jab tak hain jaan is an ‘epistrophe ‘. Try one with the anaphora style now. 🙂 Loved this one. 🙂
Thanks Piyusha. Will surely try anaphora too…”wings of freedom” is an anaphora too 🙂
oh yeah! And you didn’t even know this then. Awesome! 🙂
Yup! Thanks:)

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, little pleasures are the roots of our life, holding us together at all times!
I wouldn’t say root but they are important:)
