NaPoWriMo Day 3: Today’s prompt (optional, as always) asks you to make use of our resource for the day. First, make a list of ten words. You can generate this list however you’d like – pull a book off the shelf and find ten words you like, name ten things you can see from where you’re sitting, etc. Now, for each word, use Rhymezone to identify two to four similar-sounding or rhyming words. For example, if my word is “salt,” my similar words might be “belt,” “silt,” “sailed,” and “sell-out.”
Once you’ve assembled your complete list, work on writing a poem using your new “word bank.” You don’t have to use every word, of course, but try to play as much with sound as possible, repeating sounds and echoing back to others using your rhyming and similar words.
Regression
Tik-tok, tik-tok,
Mind always focused on the clock
From dawn to dusk, a race against time
To relentlessly chase success, the only prime
Humans, after all we are,
From God, we believe we aren’t too far!
Humans evolved remarkably over generations
And humanity? Well that’s worth a consideration
Aware we are, of our jurisdiction and obligations,
Even repercussions of our denial- the colossal ramifications
Yet stuck in the maze of time, we play a game of allegations
“To leverage our time on earth”, being our only justification
We challenge our limits, surpassing all stipulations
Exploiting sovereignty of nature, in the name of globalization
Well, here we are today, witnessing outcome of our actions
Our liberty seized by the tiniest of creation
Do we still intend to continue this game of civilization?
Wouldn’t God be ashamed of his so-called supreme creation?
It’s time we realize, we aren’t invincible
Let’s respect other creatures, make this world more livable
Let’s invest in experiences and garner beautiful memories
Invoking the wrath of nature may invite more miseries
Let’s be more humane and renounce toxic obsessions
For once, can humans, practice some regression?

so much of truth in this powerful poem!
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it
you’re welcome!
A lesson being taught to us in a harsh way!
Very emphatically expressed in the poem.
Hope the colour of the sky doesn’t pale now and chirping never cease.
