Here’s the prompt for Day 8:
Today, I’d like to challenge you to think about the argot of a particular job or profession, and see how you can incorporate it into a metaphor that governs or drives your poem. This rather astonishing list of professional slang terms might help you get into the mood. Or, if you work a white-collar job, perhaps you can take inspiration from one of the business jargon phrases that seem to predominate in corporate environments (leveraging diverse synergies, anyone?)
Having been a part of the corporate world for over a decade, I decided to use a couple of corporate slangs/ jargons.
I’ve based my poem on “If I remember correctly” and also used others like
Connect the dots
Put two plus two together
For what it’s worth
Keep it simple

Poem: Connecting the dots If I remember correctly I often hear people say “Everything happens for good Just have a little faith” So I thought of verifying The validity of their words By connecting some dots Putting two plus two together If I remember correctly On the journey of my life I changed many a tracks But I guess I was always pleased For what it’s worth My husband always said “Let’s keep it simple” If I remember correctly But how can I forget What my father advised “Don’t settle with what you have Aim high in your life” If I remember correctly I’ve always lived with the flow And tried to smile along While struggling for the goal So I guess they all sound right For I’ve had an amazing life And I see all the dots connected If I remember correctly ©Vandana Bhasin 08.04.2019
