NaPoWriMo challenge for Day 11 is to write a poem that addresses the future, answering the questions “What does y(our) future provide? What is your future state of mind? If you are a citizen of the “union” that is your body, what is your future “state of the union” address?”
I actually imagined an idealistic state where all my present plans have materialised 🙂 You see, that’s the beauty of imagination 😉 Check it out!
I stroll at the beach
Mesmerized at the magical sunset
Feeling the warmth of the white sand
With only my sweetheart by my side
We spend our time reminiscing about our past
Smiling at the memories of our family vacations
When our now mature kids, were tender and innocent
And those treasured moments are captured in pictures
As a proficient and published writer pursuing my passion
I pen down my thoughts on a piece of paper
It is the month of April
And I haven’t missed NaPoWriMo for last twenty years
My grey hair reflect my coaching experience
My assistant schedules my clients for next days
While I plan another arm
For my social establishment
I cherish my wealth of publishing and awards
I take pride in the success of my young lads
I feel honored to be spouse of a prosperous man
I am grateful for the life so rich and well spent

“I actually imagined an idealistic state where all my present plans have materialised”
What an absolutely fantastic, fabulous idea! and here i was being all morose. what an improvement! Thank you!
It was ecstatic to see a bright future…to see all my dreams coming true. Thank you so much dear 🙂
I like the certainty and the confidence with which you describe your future self. Great Job done. Your positivism shines through.
Thanks Smitha! I like to stay positive all the time so the feeling of a chaos in future didn’t appeal and I thought, how would life be if all my plans see through and there I went with the flow! Thank you so much 🙂
The beauty of seeing the future in a positive light is that you will do everything in your present to make it happen. And that’s perfect 🙂
Absolutely! The NLP technique 😉
Beautiful picture of what you see for yourself in the future Vandana ❣️
Thank you dear Radhika 🙂
An honest response to the prompt and well written. I’m struck most by the line talking about photographs as captured treasured moments. You’ve stated a very important truism here. I think of my brother who died at 51, 9 years older than me. I have several photos of him on display in my study…and they are treasured, where he is frozen in time and always with me, there in that frame, in my room and in my heart.
Well done.
This line made me smile: “And I haven’t missed NaPoWriMo for last twenty years” Such a lovely idea!
I also pictured myself reading your poems in 20 years, and group of #NAPoWriMo people still visiting each others work. Witnessing life events, changing moods, thinking about how they’ve seen each other develop, grow, change over the years…
Normally my brain doesn’t get past the next poem. Thank you 🙂
Awww…so sweet of you. How beautifully you imagined the NaPoWriMo family maintaining their ties. I wish and hope that your imagination sees the daylight 🙂 Thank you so much Angela.
