An acrostic poem is a poem where certain letters in each line spells out a word or phrase. Typically, the first letters of a line are used to spell the message; but, they can appear anywhere. In my poem below, the first letter of each line when written together, spells out the title of my poem, “LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL”.
Little pleasures often come along our way
In the hope of ecstasy, we prefer to disobey
For each moment in life, promises something new
Expectations stay eternal and desires get renewed
In obsession of a vision, we squash several dream
Smiles are abandoned for that laughter of gleam
Bearing perfection in mind, relations stand at bargain
Every thought warrants evaluation, every act part of the game
Abhorrence draped in admiration, guiles all along
Umbrage surges ahead, gratification fades down
To experience the vivacity, attitude must transform
In trivial or critical matters, it’s crucial to appreciate the charm
For accomplishment lies in journey and not merely the goal
Unravel your outlook, relinquish some control
Life is beautiful, cherish with your heart and soul!
This is a cool way of telling several beautiful things together 🙂 thank you V for introducing this form.
Thanks Haripriya for your lovely words 🙂
I started writing acrostic poem by accident. Did not realize till I wrote a few as part of my fifty two weeks journey with the letter W. It was pointed out to me by one of my readers.
Great. Even I noticed it in your poems on W. They were amazing indeed. I am surprised you didn’t realize it…as it was an effort for me at certain points 🙂
I didn’t have any formal training in writing, so I didn’t realize till it was pointed out to me.
