Prompt for Day 16 by Maureen:
Today’s prompt is a poem of negation – yes (or maybe, no), I challenge you to write a poem that involves describing something in terms of what it is not, or not like. For example, if you chose a whale as the topic of your poem, you might have lines like “It does not settle down in trees at night, cooing/Nor will it fit in your hand.”
Prompt for ALS NaPoWriMo Day 16:
Throughout our lives, we keep running. Our day begins with a chase to accomplish the tasks we’ve listed for the day. But we need to pause sometimes to rejuvenate ourselves. Write your thoughts about the significance or irrelevance (as you may deem fit) of ‘pause’. You could even detail your experience of the same.
Combining two prompts to write the below poem:
Poem: And I pause for a while
When the space between dreams and reality,
I cannot contain in my heart,
I slow down and take a deep breath,
I remind myself to pause.
When the ghosts of yesterday haunt my today,
And clouds of fear chain my thoughts,
I practice mindfulness to be here, in the now,
I remind myself to be present with all my heart.
When the chase for happiness wears me down,
When success becomes just a landmark,
I quiet my mind, and practice stillness,
I remind myself to be free of thoughts.
When my search for self leads me nowhere,
When plethora of questions remain unresolved,
I close my eyes and accept the flow,
I remind myself of my role in cosmos.
When strength evades and faith dwindles,
When quitting seems easier than carrying on,
I trust the Universe, I pause but move on,
I remind myself, “It’s all His plan.”
