ALS NaPoWriMo 2025 Day 24 Prompt: Use idioms/proverbs in your poem.
I’ve written a poem using ONLY proverbs.
Poem: A Proverbial Verse
Even from a foe, a man may learn wisdom–
You cannot always get what you want
—
Into every life, a little rain must fall
If you cannot live longer, live deeper
—
Worrying never did anyone any good
Well begun is half done.
—
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
Every stick has two ends
—
Every picture tells a story
Ask no questions and hear no lies
—
It is not enough to learn how to ride, you must also learn how to fall
If ‘ifs’ and ‘ands’ were pots and pans, there would be no work for tinkers
—
Do not try to walk before you can crawl
You cannot unscramble eggs; You cannot win them all
—
Doubt is the beginning, not the end, of wisdom
You cannot burn a candle at both ends
—
Sometimes we are the student; Sometimes we are the master,
And sometimes we are merely the lesson
—
Better to light one candle than to curse the darkness
Time and tide wait for no one
—
Zeal without knowledge is fire without light
It’s never too late to learn.
