ALS NaPoWriMo Day 22: Write a poem that is set in the future by imagining a world that has technologically grown in myriad ways.
I’ve used the words of Carl Sagan for my poem today: “Science is not only compatible with spirituality; it is a profound source of spirituality.”
Poem: The Hermit
“Science is not only compatible with spirituality;
It is a profound source of spirituality.”
Revelling in the wonders of the Universe,
The Hermit stood amazed to witness technology at work.
—
In the year 2234,
When robots were handling all the planning and chores,
And humans were distant from the mundane and triviality,
The questions of awareness and existence became a priority.
—
With the deepening of their wisdom and practices of mindfulness,
To their inner self, humans could instantly connect,
Intense control over emotions became an innate ability,
As the state of inner balance could be deciphered with technology.
—
An analysis of all the emotions was a basic functionality,
Suggesting ways infinite to neutralize reflexes and materiality,
The Hermit stood aghast at the level of spirituality,
The connection was promptly established between the soul and the galaxy.
—
The mysteries of existence and mortality,
The relation of cosmos and individuality,
The oneness of creatures and the Universe,
Interconnected the entire space of science and spirituality.
—
The world of bots and droids wasn’t terrifying after all,
Cyborgs could even connect with some souls of humanity,
A true state of blissfulness wasn’t a distant reality,
The Hermit had now touched the highest level of morality.
Science had indeed become a profound source of spirituality.
