ALS NaPoWriMo Day 13: Write a poem that describes your day/ routine/ mood/ flow of time from Monday through Sunday.
I am following the quote of Mark Twain for my poem today:
“Give every day the chance to become the most beautiful day of your life.”–Mark Twain
Poem: Carpe Diem
Give every day the chance
to become the most beautiful day of your life,
Look for the energy within,
Don’t let the label of the day stigmatize.
—
Monday is the day I’m most energized,
My weekly task list is ready within an hour,
I know I have to make the most of my time,
So refraining from distractions, I focus on my work,
“A boost of creativity sets the mood in,” I prompt myself.
—
Tuesdays are transformational,
An art date is fixed with my art mentor,
I look forward to my indulgence in colours and patterns,
The magical way in which it unties all knots,
“All is in control,” it whispers in my heart.
—
Wednesday mornings come in a different hue,
I start to crave penning down my thoughts,
Sometimes I manage, sometimes I just cannot,
As the day loses hold from the grip of my hands,
“I am allowed to take a break,” I quell lifting my coffee mug.
—
Thursdays demand calmness in every task,
An extra dose of meditation sets rolling the ball,
A quick glance at the Monday list,
And I know some need to be realistically dropped,
“Be gentle to yourself,” I tell my heart.
—
Friday announces the arrival of the weekend,
I can feel some jingle in my smile and my heart,
Though my mind keeps assessing the work left undone,
I keep looking forward to some writers’ meetups,
“Just go with the flow,” sings my heart.
—
Saturdays are days for revelling in nature,
I like to plan some treks or some walks,
The day that reinforces my connect with the Universe,
The day I spend in the family’s love,
“Blessed I am,” I feel every hour.
—
Sundays, for me, is complete relaxation,
My body refuses to work or wake up,
A reboot it needs for the upcoming week,
Even books and music, it refuses to seek,
“I can’t please everyone,” it gently amuses.
—
Regardless of what the day is called,
A prayer of reverence, a book to indulge,
Some workout for my body, some music for my soul,
Some friends to talk to, and therapy of words or art,
A combination of these makes the day beautiful for me,
Carpe diem, in the true sense, I feel I’ve achieved!
